Thankful Thursday - 195

This week I am thankful for...

1. Playdate with Jaia and Janine. The kids and I went out to Janine's parents' place where she is staying the other day for a morning play date. Naturally the kids finally started really playing and talking about 20 minutes before we had to leave, but we had fun anyway!

Pictures taken almost exactly 2 years apart. In the latest one we have Dom taking Jaia to Tot Romp and to see the animals at the petting zoo! Such little hams these two. Born two days apart; Dec 25 and 27, 2016

2. Successful camping trip. If you know me, you know I'm not typically very into camping. I'm definitely a fair weather camper if at all. We braved it last weekend and had a great time on our first over-nighter!

3. Scott & Ashleigh living close by! Now they're married and living together in a basement suite a 10-15 minute WALK from our house! That means they can hypothetically come over one Saturday evening and play games with us and drink Moscow Mules and drink a bottle of wine together without having to worry about who's driving home!

Before the evening festivities we went to Spirit Halloween with all of us. Dom was less than thrilled with the whole place except for the Paw Patrol section haha!

4. My family is safe. My uncle, aunt, and three cousins were on a fishing trip up near Bella Coola with their friend and sea captain, Jeff. The waters got rough and the ship started taking on water. They were forced to abandon ship, and thankfully the five of them were wearing life jackets. Tragically, the captain didn't get a life jacket on in time as he was putting out mayday calls. My family made it to shore and were picked up by a ferry, but Jeff did not make it and SAR are currently out on a recovery mission for him.
This tragedy is beyond something I can comprehend. We've been constantly thinking about and praying for all involved, and the family of Jeff.

5. Lettering again. I know everyone is probably sick of hearing about this, but whatever! This is my life! Haha. I once again have had an outpouring of support for my lettering, which is my hobby that I fill my free time with now. I have reached 400 followers! Just two weeks before, I hit 200. I'm humbled and isnspired by the talent I see on instagram; it's incredible.

Camping at Cultus

We did it! We did our first overnight camping trip with the kids! David's mom is up at Cultus this week, so we went up and joined on Sunday afternoon until Monday after dinner. We got there and quickly ate some dinner before Larry, Rachel and Rebecca headed home. We puttered around the campsite while the kids played, went for a couple walks, and warmed Dom up to the idea of sleeping in the trailer. At around 730 or 745 Emilia was toast and so ready for bed. The sleeping arrangements were totally out of the norm. They have never shared a room, let alone with each other. There is a small room at the back of the trailer with some bunk beds, and a space under one just big enough for the play pen. We hung a sheet over the playpen to ideally separate them a bit, and Dom slept on a bottom bunk with a bed rail.

It took Dom a solid hour to an hour and a half to finally fall asleep. Before that he was talking and playing and calling to Emilia, "Missyyyyyy, Missyyyyyy!" He kept her up for a while, and we could hear them giggling and her saying, "Hi!!! Hi!!" We had the sound machine on and the three of us were outside enjoying the fire, some s'mores and a few drinks, so we just left it. Eventually they both fell asleep and slept until 715 the next morning! Love good sleepers!! Dave and I slept in a tent outside, and actually slept a lot better than I expected. It took me a long time to fall asleep, with all the noises, or non noise... I normally sleep with a fan on. But we both slept til we heard the kids waking up, which is 1-2 hours later than we're normally up (yes, we get up VERY early most days just to get things done for ourselves). A win, I'd say!

Monday we basically hung around the campsite all day. The kids played, we snacked, hung out and then Emilia had a really good long nap. Dom had some quiet time in the trailer so us adults were actually able to sneak in a game of crib without interruptions. After he woke up, Gramma took him for a long walk down to the beach, and Dave and I actually got to nap for like 45 minutes! SCORE!! Definitely didn't expect a decent night sleep AND a good nap! The nap may have been induced by the wine and Palm Bay I had with lunch, but whatever.

We made some pesto tortellini and cesar salad for dinner and then packed up to head home. The trip home was complete garbage. I thought the kids would sleep, but instead they just bickered, yelled, and scream-cried for the last 20 minutes. Oh well. At least we were well rested haha!

Over all a great success and I'm really glad we decided to do it! Next year maybe we can try a couple nights!

I took a couple pictures on my phone, but mostly Dave used his camera, so at least most of these pictures are good! :)

Appreciate Emilia's fashion statement. It was too cool for just jammies, but with them on her shoes wouldn't fit, so I put her jammies overtop some clothes and just tied her legs up in a knot. So cute.

Such a big boy

A chilly morning meant a morning fire!

Spent lots of time sitting on the log digging dirt into the cement and dump truck

RELATED?

I love that the tip of her ponytail got cut out of the frame. Her hair is so fine and long, I never know what to do with it!

Thankful Thursday - 194

This week I am thankful for...

1. Moms who have summer vacation. Both my mom and David's mom have summers off. My mom just went back to work this week, but Shelley is still off. We took the kids on our annual trip to Queens Park the other day. Fun to see the changes in the way the kids interact with the animals, playground and water park. Last year, and the year before posts.

Way more pictures of Emilia... Sorry Dom!

Feeling brave

Feeling proud of herself

The calf was a little bit of a doof. So so adorable, but also very clumsy and wanted to cuddle, but didn't know his size.

2. Footie PJs. There is not much more adorable and cozy looking than a baby/toddler in footie jammies. With the cooler weather this week we pulled a pair out for Emilia <3

Wow, I suck at taking photos lately. Has not been a priority clearly haha!

3. Wedding photo sneak peek! Scott and Ashleigh were sent a few teasers from the wedding photos. I told you they were going to look amazing!! The lighting was amazing. The photographer's exact words were, "Ugh. This lighting is making me horny."
