Lately

Missed my Thankful Thursday post last week, but we've been busy!

Dom recently figured out how to actually play snakes & ladders with the snakes & ladders. Much more fun playing by the rules than just counting to 100. He wins most of the time. Beginner's luck.

She's really growing up all of a sudden! Rolling all over, starting to show interest in oatmeal, sleeping better, laughing more...

Cousin playdate with Phoebe!

We celebrated Sherlock's 7th birthday!

We took our annual trip to Spirit Halloween. Dom & Em did better than I expected, but were definitely a bit nervous.

Besties.

But not actually - he's just waiting for her to spit up (gross). Also he needs a groom! Yeesh!

The true besties. They really truly do love each other.

On Friday, Dave hosted his first in-person poker night since COVID! There are some people who wanted to come who aren't super into poker, so he changed the format this time and did it tournament style. Everyone contributed $20, and Dave bought three prizes. They had a Mario Kart tournament, a Darts tournament and a poker tournament. The winner of each brought home a prize. Dave didn't win any of the games, but someone left their beer, someone left some cash, and the scratch & win he bought for me has proven to be an excellent winner, so he still won haha. The night went late and was super fun. Next time they should start poker before 9:30...

He spent way too much time setting everything up. Blocked off half our garage to create the poker area.

Made sure the office was set up properly to host both darts and video games.

It was nice for me because I could either be down there with all the fun, or upstairs introverting. Usually they're all upstairs playing poker so I kind of have to hide out.

There were 9 people. Mario Kart was 3 rounds of 3 vs. 3, with the losers playing each other. The loser of that round was out of the tournament. The remaining 8 did bracket races of 4 vs. 4. The top 2 of each race competed in the finals. In the end Keith took the win, which wasn't surprising apparently haha.

For Darts, everyone got 3 tries to get their highest score. I don't actually remember who won this one... Kyle?

And then there was poker. Originally there were a few who didn't want to play, so Dave thought he'd have enough space. In the end, they crammed all 9 guys around this table haha.

Saturday was a very busy day as well. After Eva's nap we went to my parents' place for brunch with Scott & Ash so Aunty Candy could meet the babies! Eva had a good nap there, so we ended up staying a solid hour and a half longer than we were planning to. In the afternoon we had a Kimber BBQ, so we were hoping to not be too ambitious doing both. In the end, we were too ambitious haha.

This is how I was feeling Saturday morning too, Emilia.

Love this. Aunty Candy's energy and laugh are always infectious

Crepes for brunch of course!

Eva ended up doing a nap in the middle of Mom & Dad's bed. I tried the playpen, but she fought it, so I got her to sleep on me, and couldn't reach all the way back down. At least she's not proficient enough with rolling to roll THAT many times to fall off the bed before we'd notice she's awake.

Phoebe also had a super duper nap and was ready to party when she finally woke up.

Dom & Emilia finally warmed up and played some playdough with Aunty Candy too. Super cute!

Nothing like some Aperol Spritzes and mimosas to perk you up after a night of too many beers!

We got home and Eva had an 18 minute nap... I knew that wasn't enough, so I snuggled her and got another 20 minutes out of her before we had to leave to the afternoon BBQ. In hindsight, I probably should have stayed home with her and send Dave and the big kids. Would have been less stressful for all haha. She was very fussy. Screaming, crying, only wanting to be held by me, etc. We ended up having to rush through dinner and dessert to get home. I didn't actually get the chance to really talk to anyone or have anyone enjoy Eva's company because she was a mess. I'm glad last time we had a Kimber BBQ she was perfect, though haha. That's more representative of her personality!

Such a beautiful set up of tables outside for dinner!

Look how tired she is. Poor thing.

Aunty Robin made place markers for everyone with Scrabble tiles. So cute!

These three (especially Dom & Rebecca) would play happily together forever, so they were a piece of cake :)

Yesterday I was originally hoping to go to church, but after the busy day we had the day before we just stayed home. Well... the kids and I did. Dave went out to a car meet to do some video work for fun. I got a little stir crazy later in the day so I went outside to do some chalk with the big kids, walked the dog, and we spent the evening on the patio.

Trying on her new outfits from Aunty Candy <3

You'd think I'd know by now not to put baby in a jolly jumper when she's due for a poop... Crap.

She found a new appreciation for the exersaucer yesterday. Suddenly much more engaged.

I'm starting to see more of baby Dom in her. I'll have to find some pictures and do some side-by-sides.

My supervisor making sure she's happy with the balloon

Chalk ended abruptly when Dom found a spider on his leg. No longer wanted to be on the ground haha. Sorry kids... you must have gotten your outdoorsy-ness from me.

Nice long walk with this guy while Dave dealt with fussy babies and cranky preschoolers at home :)

I went 4/4 on my last 4 scratch and wins! A $5 investment with a total $58 winnings plus a free $5 ticket!

Cheers!
