Thankful Thursday - 287

I have been so busy the last week I've hardly taken any pictures other than what I shared in my Family Day post!

This week I am thankful for...

1. The little kitchen. This thing is totally falling apart. Two of the hinges are busted and the fridge door hangs off when you try to open it. It was found on the side of the road when Dom was like 16ish months old by my parents. We definitely need a new one, and Dave's been trying to convince me to just ditch it, but now Eva has started playing with it and it's so cute! This thing, as ugly as it is, still gets played with every single day.

The OG kitchen picture! His face haha!!
Side note. His head is now that high above our big kitchen counters. What. The. Heck.

2. Chiropractor. I don't know what I did, but for about 4 days I couldn't move my neck to the left at all. It was very uncomfortable and nothing seemed to help. Until Dr. Yvonne that is! I saw her for Chiro Wednesday and my mobility is back and discomfort is so much more manageable. Yay!

3. Quality time with Dom. Dom and I have been going back and rebuilding most of his Lego sets in the last week or so. (Maybe that's what I did to my neck haha). Anyway I love doing Lego, especially when it's following the instructions (I'm really fun...), so it has been really fun for us to do this together!

4. Dom's blossoming confidence. Thursday was Dom's 5th time at his Soccer Shots class. I got to take him and I was so excited to see how he would do! He was totally into it, participating in all the drills, chatting with the coaches, and engaging a bit with the friends there. For the last half they have a "game" which is basically just a mayhem of kids chasing a ball around. The past few times he's decided to be the goalie and just stand on one end to defend his team's net. This time he actually decided to get out of the net and play. He was in his element! He scored 4 goals (one was on his own net but whatever haha) and cheered on his friends. He was very encouraging and is clearly made for team sports. We were both very proud of him!

I mostly took video, but here's a shot of him getting his prize at the end.

5. Honeybee Centre Visit. Aunty Sonya came over early this morning and after Eva went to bed, her and I took Dom and Emilia down to the Honeybee Centre. Both the kids rode their bikes. I was a little hesitant for Dom to ride his since he hasn't really ridden it anywhere other than in circles in front of our house and I know how he tends to get anxious and give up pretty quickly and I didn't feel like carrying his bike the whole way. He actually rode most of the way there and about half of the way back! The second half of the walk back is a huge hill so I had zero expectation of them even attempting to ride up that haha. Emilia did great as expected, but she's used to riding her bike with me when I walk the dog.

We got some honey sticks to fuel up for the ride home, and then came home for lunch. Aunty Sonya (Lasagna) read some books with the kids and even Eva got in on the action. Lovely way to break up our day and do something different with our Friday morning! Unfortunately the Beestro is permanently closed. We were hoping we could grab a bite to eat there.

Aunty Sonya's turn!

Watching them jar up some honey

Cheers!

Happy Family Day!

Without realizing it was Family Day weekend, we definitely made it a family-oriented weekend!
Friday we went to the library with Ash & Phoebe, and then they came over for a play date. Afterwards, the big kids went to my parents' place overnight and Dave went to basketball. I put Eva to bed and had a nice quiet evening on my own.

I Spy the third child exploring

At least they're not afraid of heights!

Tidying Dom & Emilia's room and came across this sweet ship Dom created. His lego imagination is muuuuch better than mine.

Quality Mom & Eva time means we actually get to sit and read a book together!

And she gets to play with whatever she wants! (This ottoman holds most of our stuffed animals)

Saturday morning we picked up the kids, and right after Eva's first nap we zipped off to Agassiz. The drive out went smoothly. We had borrowed some Magic School Bus DVD from the library, so the kids learned about mountains and tectonic plates while we drove. We met up with Gramma & Grandpa at Creekside Cheese & Creamery for a tour of the dairy farm! Eva was hungry and the big kids were a little tired (Dom was pretty fussy), but I sure enjoyed seeing all the animals!

Prepare for picture overload. Eva LOVED the cows so much. Emilia was also pretty interested. Dom's favourite part was the cows peeing haha. After the tour they gave us a cup of cheese samples to enjoy, and then Gramma picked up some cheese to take home for a snack!

This little baby stole my heart. Such a sweet face and huge eyes with gorgeous long eyelashes <3

Some of them were very friendly

Family photo! Although Dom is a mood haha

I broke out my bottle of Dasilva Merlot for with our cheese. So good! The big kids watched Encanto (again...) downstairs while the grownups caught up and Eva napped. We had turkey for dinner and were headed back home again by 630. Emilia fell asleep within 10 minutes on the way home. The drive was precarious though. I haven't seen rain that crazy in a LONG time. Everyone was completely guessing where the lanes were on the highway out in Chilliwack area. Eva cried a lot of the way home, until about Mt. Lehman where I finally reached back and held her hand. She still fussed for a bit, but eventually fell asleep and clutched my hand. That was a long 25 minutes home with my arm stretched into the backseat awkwardly haha. Dom just sat quietly in the back. Phew!

Sunday we had a quieter day at home. It had been a busy week for the kids and we were paying for it. Lots of screen-time equals lots of acting out! Sunday we just did Lego, played outside, the kids did some strange chalk, read books, and hung out at home. For dinner I sent Dave out to get some stuff for burgers and we got a text from the neighbours, "Nice buns, Dave." Therefore they came over for burgers and contributed as well haha! We then watched Star Wars Episode II after bedtime.

Yesterday was officially Family Day. Jeff and Marta managed to snag us tickets to the Giants game so we could take Dom to his first hockey game! The game started at 2, so we got there around 1 hoping to get in and watch the warm-up. Marta knows one of the owners, so we actually got to sit in his suite for the game. Amaaazing. One of those suites where the food and drinks are free, and you get the special treatment. Dom was in absolute heaven. I can't even describe it. He was his true self and completely engaged the majority of the time. He heckled, cheered, jeered, gave play-by-play, and asked lots of questions. It was really cool to watch it all through his eyes. Emilia was just there for the snuggles and fun. She sat with me most of the time and then we were invited to ride the "Fan-boni" during the second intermission. Dom wasn't feeling up to it, so Emilia and I went on it! As we were walking out, she ran over to Aunty Marta to ask her to come too. There wasn't enough room for both of us adults unfortunately, but it was very sweet of her to be so excited.

The Giants lost 3-0, but I honestly didn't see a single goal or have any idea what was happening in the game. It was a super fun and unique experience. The kids are now spoiled for what they think hockey games are like haha. Next time we'll try go down close to the glass to give Dom the complete opposite experience! Instead of private suite, it will be right in the action. Prepare for a second picture overload.

Nice and early for the warmup!

There was a lot less ear plugging than I expected!

Not cooperating for a nice photo with me haha

 A glimpse into Jeff & Marta's future

Not a cute shot of Emilia, but this was out on the ice!

Emilia so happy after our ride!

Most genuine Dom smile ever

After the game, we all went back to Mom & Dad's for dinner. They were watching Eva for us, so it only made sense! Back home for bedtime, and then Jesse & Kirsten came over again to watch Star Wars Episode III!

Only downside to this weekend is that my neck has been absolutely killing me. I don't know if I slept on it funny or what, but I can't tilt it to the left at all. It's constantly aching and I'm so immobile. I couldn't even shoulder check driving today (luckily I had Dave with me). Dave is busy again/still, so he's less available to help out with the kids so I'm just sort of trucking along. Tomorrow I work though, and then have a chiro appointment in the afternoon. Here's hoping Dr. Yvonne can work her magic! It's very uncomfortable!
