Emilia - 15 Months

Busy week this week with wedding stuff going on, but still managed to squeeze in a little photoshoot.

Apparently this is a popular look for this age

Weight: 23 lb (50th percentile)
Height: 30.5 inches (50th percentile) What an average baby! Haha

Likes:
  • Being tickled! She runs across the room and dog piles on us just waiting for a tickle fest.
  • Eating. She's a much better eater than Dom was at this age.
  • Her blanket. Still her favorite item ever.

Dislikes:
  • Being helped when she doesn't want help. Fiercely independent. Just like her mama!

Notes:
  • Size 12-18 month clothing and 4 diapers. Getting into size 4 shoes now, but we still try to squeeze her into 3's.
  • What we call her: Emilia, Em, Weelia, Yaya, Wheels.
  • Fashionista. She will wear whatever we put on her. She struts around in her flip flops like they're nothing. Dom hates wearing flip flops.
  • She talks a lot of jibberish and noises, but she's actually started using some words to communicate! Words: Banana (nanana), Dom (Duh), Dad, (Dah), Water (wa wa wa), milk (Wa wa wa with milk sign), uh oh, Oma (mmmma), Opa (pa), Grandpa (papa), Gramma (mama), ball (bah), puppy (baba), hi (aiiiiii), bye (da! with a wave), bonk/boom (bup!), thank you (tadu with thank you sign), cheers (dees!).
  • Yesterday she communicated to me that she wanted to sit on the potty. She asked me to take off her clothes and her diaper and I asked if she wanted to sit on the potty and she said, "ya!!" She sat there for like 30 minutes bossing Dom and I around to get her stuff. She didn't actually pee or anything, but it was a step in an interesting direction and I'm impressed she was able to communicate that. She just keeps making gestures and sounds until we guess right and then she says, "Ya!" in the absolute sweetest voice ever.
  • She is a climber. She can climb onto the couch on her own, and also climbs up our 3-tier toy shelf.
  • She finally learned how to go down the stairs. She's very cautious and reliable with it so far!
  • She's a very messy eater. If she isn't immediately successful with a fork or spoon everything becomes finger food.
  • She engages in games Dom invents. They love to play outside with water or in the empty kid pool. The latest game is pushing the dump trucks around the main floor or running back and forth and wrestling on the couch.
  • She takes huge sips of water and just swishes them around in her mouth instead of swallowing
  • She is getting much better with people! She tries so hard to be tough, but is still wary of most strangers. She is great with people she's familiar with though. Totally different child
  • She is such a stinker. If you tell her no, she looks you straight in the eye and does it again a little quiet or a little less and just tests us.
  • She is a flexible sleeper. We went day camping and she slept in the trailer, or she'll sleep at my parents' or Dave's parents' no problem. As long as she has her sleep sack, blanket and white noise she's good to go!
  • Her hair is so thin and wispy. I expected her to get tons of hair like I have, but it looks like she has her father's hairline. Sorry baby! Cowlick up front and long, thin hair.
  • We often get told she has beautiful eyes and that she looks like a feminine Dom
  • Recently discovered bellybuttons and often walks around with her finger in hers.
