Halloween 2017 - A Haunted Graveyard

Last year for Halloween David did a little set up in our garage and we were ready for lots of kids! Well... we got all of 3.

THIS year... David and Scott spent all day Monday setting up our yard as a haunted graveyard. David advertised in the neighborhood's Facebook group and even went out to the main trick-or-treating drag to herd/shuffle people/kids our direction. People tend to stick to their route and miss the town houses otherwise!

In the end we probably got 100+ kids, and many adults coming by to check it out or take pictures as well! SUCCESS!!!

Our neighborhood goes absolutely crazy for Halloween. Courtney and I took Sherlock out for a walk at 6:45 (peak trick-or-treating time) and went to check out some of the well-decorated houses. It felt like Disneyland! The number of people and kids running around, the Fireworks, the lights... Starbucks had even set up a tent at the park and were giving out free coffee, hot chocolate, full-size candy bars, and dog treats! Sherlock was in his element.

I could not have been more happy with how Sherlock did on that walk. I thought he'd be way over-excited by all the kids, screaming, nose-height candy, fireworks, etc. He was perfect. He walked great, didn't pull on leash (we've worked hard on this), wasn't spooked by any costumes, didn't maul any kids, didn't steal any candy, didn't even perk his ears at the fireworks... Just the perfect angel. Phew!! David and I can pat ourselves on the back for socializing him well as a pup apparently!

Here are some photos and video of the neighborhood including our yard.
To start... our yard and set up!

Pumpkin carving took place on October 30th. These boys carved a few pumpkins and Courtney carved one. I opted out... I know myself better than that. I get too frustrated carving pumpkins. I'd rather make dinner!

David, Courtney & Scott's pumpkins

Scott's other pride & joy... Smaug!

Looking good!!! We don't have a lot of space to work with, but David and Scott did a great job!

Scott's last minute scary sale-purchase!

What it looks like from the street at dusk...

Haunted Graveyard! Can't tell in this photo, but there are two fog machines, and a few strobe lights going!

David had this super freaky mask on... He couldn't wear it if there were younger kids coming. Wayyyyy too scary!

Quick video of our yard

Walk-through from the street into the yard. It's dark, but it gets the point across (Much more effective with sound on!)

The rest of the neighborhood, as mentioned also had LOTS going on!
Here are some picks and a video to show!

Skeleton camp-out

You can see it better in upcoming video clip, but there are dancing skeletons projected into the windows of this house. wayyy too cool!

The Harry Potter car!

Here's a terrible quality video of the above house.

These two town-houses are side-by-side and go ALL out for Halloween and Christmas. It's a bit much, but it's fun! Across the street from here is where Starbucks had their tent set up.

Jack Sparrow

Only a tad gaudy

Next year is going to look much different for us! We will have a 10 month old to trick or treat with! And whose candy we will get to eat! Already looking forward to it :)
