Thankful Thursday - 53

I missed Thankful Thursday last week! What happened?!

This week I am grateful for...

1. Cuteness in the neighborhood! One of our neighbor's friends came over the other day and they had an 8 week old Bernese Mountain Dog puppy. I literally stopped my car and got out right away when I saw them. My jaw dropped. I may be biased because I grew up with one, but these are some of the cutest puppies ever!

Very intrigued by this storm drain! <3

1.5. In the cuteness/animal category, Sherlock met a goat the other day on our walk. He was very intrigued. The goat came up to the fence as we got closer, and they just stared at eachother, Sherlock's tail wagging like crazy. He was very curious, and I'm also curious what would have happened if the fence wasn't there!

2. Something to watch on lunch break. On my break at work I go sit in the lunch room to watch an hour of the Olympics. Wednesday this week, I just happened to catch the men's synchronized 3m diving finals. Aside from the muscly, dripping wet men in Speedos, it is pretty amazing how they can work as such a tight-knit team and pull off those intricate moves! We don't have cable at home, so I have not watched many Olympic events at all.

If you squint you can see a nice little torso on the screen there.

3. Our new BBQ. Something special about finally having a BBQ! Now we will have to try out some simple, delicious BBQ recipes! Any suggestions/favorites?

Bonus! Junk food for charity! Brent & Amy invited us to go to the annual Pirate Pak day at White Spot with them and the boys where everyone gets a pirate pak, and $2 of proceeds of each sale goes to the Zazaj Ranch for Children - a BC based summer camp that brings joy to children and young adults with serious medical conditions. I'll eat to that! We got there nice and early and did not have to wait in line! By the time we left, the lineup was out the door!

This brings me back! I secretly wanted a children's menu with crayons too, but... the ship will do!

.
Amy told us before we left that they had all dressed in stripes. Challenge accepted! No better way to go to a pirate event than to go in matching outfits! We had a blast. Got to see a glimpse of our future (especially if we get to have kids close together!) Chaotic, but fun. These kids are way too cute. They've both grown up so much since we babysat them for a weekend back in January!

They all dropped by after dinner as the boys (or... Carter mostly) really wanted to see Sherlock. We let Carter feed Sherlock his dinner. We were practicing "wait" and having Sherlock respect boundaries/rules with little ones. Here you can see the kibble on Sherlock's paw as Carter and David tell him to wait, and then excitedly, "BREAK!" when he's allowed to have it. What a good dog :) Also. Carter loves David. It's pretty adorable hearing a little voice yell, "Dave! Dave!" every time we see him.

Sherlock gets pretty excited around the boys, and really just wants to kiss Devin's face and ears (whether or not he wants him to). I think when we have our baby, Sherlock will be excited (maybe too excited) for a while, and then the novelty will wear off. We will teach him boundaries (have started already), and by the time our baby is Carter & Devin's age, Sherlock will have been eased into it! It's also so important to teach your kids boundaries with animals. Great learning opportunities for all.
*Update* Amy texted me Thursday morning and we agree the boys were tuckered out by Sherlock. They all slept until 8am!! Lucky them :) We were up at 5:45 :(

At DQ today they're having a fundraiser when you buy Blizzards as well. I haven't looked too much into it as we probably can't make it, but just in case you're interested!
