Emilia - 4 Months Old

Our little peanut is 4 months old today. It feels like it was a long month - it feels a lot longer ago that we went to the cabin.

Weight: 11lb 15.5 oz (15th percentile)
Height: 24.5 inches (65th percentile)

Likes:
  • Kicking crinkly toys
  • Sucking her fingers. So far she just does it as a self-soothing technique when she's trying to sleep
  • The Jolly Jumper! She still kind of just hangs out in it (pun intended), but definitely enjoys watching Dom from that angle.
  • Snuggling with her mama.

Dislikes:
  • The only thing I can think of is being tired or sitting in a dirty diaper... normal baby things.
  • She still is not overly fond of being handled for a long period of time. She'd rather just be held facing outwards or be put in a chair to be by herself.

Notes:
  • She is wearing 3-6 and 6 month clothing mostly. 3 month still fits her, but some of it is too short for her.
  • She is in size 2 diapers.
  • She is still sleeping through the night until 630 or so.
  • She rolled from her back to her tummy for the first time on August 23, and now does it constantly.
  • We moved her from the bassinet to the crib on August 26 and had a couple rough nap-days before everything went back to normal.
  • As of 5 days ago she is officially a tummy sleeper. She actually sleeps a lot better on her tummy.
  • I have been kind of feeling like she hasn't been gaining enough weight. She just feels SO tiny. People keep saying that I was just like that as a baby, but it still wasn't sitting well with me. I weighed her and discovered that she may have actually LOST weight in the last month, instead of gaining 1-2 lb. Crap... We have a doctor appointment for her 4 month immunizations in a week and a half, so I'm going to see if I can get her weight up before then. Bring on the pumping, the fenugreek, the oatmeal, and lots of nursing. It'll be like having a newborn again.
    • It's hard to believe she hasn't been getting enough because she sleeps so well and she's so content. However, yesterday I pumped a bit and then tried to give her a 2oz bottle AFTER a feed. She hasn't taken a bottle since she was 1 week old, so I didn't have high expectations. Well, I now feel like crap. She chugged back the entire bottle and still wanted more. And this was after a feed. Poor thing! At least she'll take a bottle?!
  • She has the BEST pout face when she's going to cry.
  • She has FOMO. She will only sleep if it's dark and she has white noise. She'll fall asleep in the car if she's really tired, but will not stay asleep if the vehicle stops. And she only gets grumpy during the day if she's tired. This makes it tough to go out places, but I'm not complaining.
  • She's loving the Bumbo and will sit there quite happily while I get some stuff done.

A Typical Day:
630: Wake & Feed
745-1000: Nap 1
1000: Feed
1130-200: Nap 2
200: Feed
330-530: Nap 3
530: Feed
645: Feed
700: Bed for the night

This is about 2 seconds before Dom throws her off of him and onto her face on the couch. She took it like a champ and we had a laugh. We were ready for it.

The look of "What Have I Done?" after she rolled over for the first time.

Like I said, the BEST pout

She has recently become such a little snuggle monster when she first wakes up. I love it.
