Eva - 13 Months

Almost done with the monthly posts! I do monthly thru 18 months and then every 6 months until they turn 5. Then I plan to do just one annual post. Changes just happen so rapidly right now!

Weight: 25 lb (97th percentile)
Height: 30.5 inches (80th percentile)

Notes:
  • Size 18-24 month clothing for the most part. Still trying to finish up this last box of size 4 diapers. Very ready for 5's though.
  • Size 4 shoes
  • Still 6 teeth. Those bottom canines have been bothering her on and off for weeks though.
  • She's developing words/communication faster than Dom or Emilia did I think. She's definitely trying. Her words I can think of right now:
    • Pop, hi, bye (daii), dad, puppy (bup), uh oh, poo, Bruno (nuno), ya, whoa (woooooooa), no (nono... sounds a lot like her Bruno), Oma (mmmma), bottle (dadohl), balloon (ooon), banana (nan).
    • She says "dee" and "doh" a lot. She's definitely saying something, but I haven't figured it out yet.
    • She chats constantly and thinks she makes sense. To us it sounds like, "doodle-blana-dada-mmlllooo-ooooo".
  • Mimics animal sounds. If she's just guessing all on her own it's either cow or elephant sound no matter what the animal is:
    • elephant (trumpet sort of sound), cow (moo), owl (ooo), goat/sheep (ah-ah-ah-ah), penguin (adl adl adl - supposed to be waddle waddle waddle).
  • Asks for lotion by rubbing her hands together. Asks for food by smacking her lips and saying "mnya mnya".
  • She says "hi" at least 700 times per day. I am not exaggerating. I wish I was. If you hang out here your day is, "hi. hi. hi. hi. mnya. mnya. mnya. hi. hi. hi." all day long.
I'm a little worried for when she gets more words. Is she going to talk at me all day long?
  • I think she's pretty extroverted. After a few minutes she's not really shy, "hi. hi. hi. hiiiii." and after we leave somewhere with lots of people or people leave our house she is booooonkers. Totally fuelled by the energy of the room. I tend to tank after social things. She definitely thrives.
  • We brought out the learning tower this month and it's been a game changer. She's up in it probably 75% of the day just eating, playing, praciticing climbing, watching whatever is happening in the kitchen, etc.
  • Loves the water table
  • I think she's right-handed. Definitely favours it.
  • She loves to climb around on the couch with the big kids while they listen to audio books. I've been finding the three of them playing together more and more the last couple weeks. Whew. Looking forward to more of that so I get a break!
  • We switched her from whole milk to goats milk this month and her gut is SO much better.
  • She loves sleep. I don't know what it is. She basically begs to go down for her naps, and I have to wake her from almost every sleep. In the morning I think she wakes up around 7, but we don't hear anything from her until we go to get her.
  • Her dancing is becoming more advanced with hips and shoulders.
  • She is VERY happy when she's outside.
  • She's a much pickier eater all of a sudden. She doesn't really like textures and throws a lot on the ground. I just don't make a big deal of it and keep offering her everything we're eating. Well... I try my best not to make a big deal out of the mess. Usually I'm lamenting, "WHYYY! why must it all go on the floor?! oatmeal on the walls! rice everywhere!" haha
  • I brought out the megablocks the other day and she had a great time stacking and practicing those motor skills.
  • Enjoys playing with her crochet balls and sticking them into a container through a little hole.
  • Working on "help" and "thank you" sign language. Help would be useful when she's in the stool and I can't tell if she wants help to get down or is just chatting or complaining.
  • She sleeps with a little Easter bunny she got from Gramma on her birthday. She doesn't care if it's not there, but really loves when I bring it up for a snuggle before putting her down.
  • She doesn't usually use utensils to eat. That is 100% because I don't like the mess that comes with learning. I am good at lots of things. Mess is not one of them haha.
Typical day:
Her typical day hasn't changed in months. Both Dom and Emilia were down to 1 nap by now, but I truly don't think she's ready. I am also not ready to only get one Eva break each day. When she starts showing signs of being ready I'll make sure to follow her lead, but ya. For now I'm happy with where we're at.
It's also sort of nice because it does give us some flexibility. I'm not glued to these wake times and she's fine if they're off by half an hour, but everyone is happier with two naps :)

Wake times (2.75/3.25/3.5)
700: wake & 6-7 oz. bottle
815: Breakfast (oatmeal, yogurt, fruit)
945-1130: Nap 1
1130: Wake & 5-6 oz bottle
1214: Lunch
245-345: Nap 2
345: Wake & milk in a sippy cup with a snack
500: Dinner
700: Bed!

"Hey! This was MY moment!"
