Emilia - 4 Years Old

Princess Elsa, I mean Emilia, is 4! She's becoming the sweetest little girl and has been an amazing big sister this year!

She got this dress as an early birthday gift from Aunty Lasagna (Sonya) and decided to hang it up to keep it clean until her birthday party day. It is VERY Emilia

1, 2, 3, 4

Weight: 32.2 lb (35th percentile)
Height: juuust over 40 inches (50th percentile)

Notes:
  • Wearing size 4T (or sometimes 5T) clothing. She's very tall, so most 4T pants are too short for her, but they fall down because she has no butt. Not sure where she got that from... (me. She got that from me).
  • As soon as she goes through the last few, she will no longer be wearing pull-ups at night. Though she's been keeping them dry for months.
  • Size 9 shoes
  • She's in preschool Tuesday and Thursday from 9-1 with her big brother. The report from her preschool teachers is that she's very sweet, and mostly follows her big brother around. I've witnessed this. She's an observer. She likes quiet, calm play, and often the boys get too rough for her so she steps back to watch. She can also be silly and rough at times, but definitely leans towards the softer side. I'm excited for her to be in preschool on her own in September when Dom goes to kindergarten so she can step into her own a bit more.
  • I think she's going to be into acting. She has great facial control and emotional control (when she wants to). Never engage her in a staring contest (where you can't smile). You'll lose.
  • She's very into Disney Princesses. Her current favourites are Elsa (still, of course...) and Princess Jasmine. She and Dom also love Mulan, but I think she likes the glamour of Jasmine. She's "fabulous" as Emilia would say. She wants to be Jasmine or Mulan for Halloween and I'm not sure how to make that work... haha
  • She's starting to control the play a bit more with Dom which is fun to see. A year ago she was super into cars and Star Wars because she'd follow his lead. Now they do a lot more colouring, legos, playmobil, dollhouse, playing school/house/restaurant, etc. It's a good balance.
  • She got some Lego for her birthday and FAR exceeded my expectations for how well she did with it. I would give her the pieces and she could follow the instructions and built a whole Elsa castle with very very little help. I think we underestimate her.
  • She's not the best at independent play, but is getting better. I often find her telling Dom off saying she wants to play on her own. This will be really handy when he goes to school full-time! She's been much better with her own new dolls and lego now though. hopefully that keep sup!
  • She can write her own name, but does the L upside down and I love it.
  • Not sure how high she can count... at least to 30. She almost always skips 16 though.
  • She eats well, but her very favourite food (her birthday meal wish) is tortellini soup!
  • She doesn't do naps or quiet time any more. This is hard for me. I miss quiet time.
  • She makes breakfast for her and Dom every morning. Oatmeal! She gets the bowls, scoops the oatmeal, preps the water (I pour it because it's hot), and helps to stir it up.
  • Physical touch is her #1 love language. I'd say words of affirmation next or quality time. Maybe quality time... When we're out somewhere she says she has to go pee every 5-10  minutes. I am 70% sure it's just so she can get us in a room for some 1-1 time since she needs help getting up to other peoples' toilets sometimes.
  • She's stubborn. She'll look you dead in the eye and do something she knows she's not supposed to do.
  • She's an excellent partner for running errands. Never complains. Happily tags along for whatever we're doing. Again, excited to just have that quality time I think.
  • She loves to sing, and would maybe benefit from some voice lessons some day...
  • She is very uncoordinated just like me.
  • She's more easy-going and brave with new things. More than Dom was at this age anyway. Probably a benefit of being the second-born.
