Eva - 10 Months

Missy E is 10 months old. That's almost a year. That's crazy and awesome. This last 10 months has been hard. Really hard. Honestly it's probably been the hardest year and a bit of my life with the pregnancy and all too. I know I'm not alone in struggling the last while.

I can confidently say I am coming out of my postpartum fog and I am so incredibly grateful. Anyway, this post isn't about me. It's about Eves!

Weight: 23 lbs (95th percentile) - where did this giant come from?!
Height: 29.5 inches (92nd percentile)

Notes:

  • I'm still squeezing her into size 12-18 month clothing, but she'll probably be upsizing into 18 and 18-24 soon. She's not a little girl!
  • Size 4 diapers and 3-4 shoes.
  • She has 4 teeth that are through, and two that are JUST about there. She's a relatively good teether. A little fussy, but we haven't lost sleep over it!
  • She's doing this super weird forced giggle thing. It is very airy and hard to describe. I look back at videos of the other kids at this age and their laughs are much the same, so I'm curious to see how this evolves haha! It's almost like a nervous laughter, but she thinks its very silly.
  • She has been standing unassisted for most of the month. She can't get up without grabbing onto something yet, but that's coming very soon.
  • She took her first step yesterday, and took 5 micro steps today as well! I predict she'll be walking in a week or so. So much like Emilia that way. She was also 10 month walker.
  • Her favourite song is "Happy and You Know it" and she'll excitedly clap along if she hears it.
  • She copies sounds and associates them. Hard to call them words, but also hard to ignore the fact that they resemble words and she says mama and points to me, or dada and points to Dave.
  • She also definitely has a first word/expression. "Uh oh." If she drops something or falls over you get the most adorable little "oh oh." It's my favourite.
  • I also swear she says hi and waves. Well maybe "haaaa" and waves...
  • She thinks she is hilarious. She'll do something and look at us and squeak expectantly until we crack.
  • She's very tough and patient. Dom is not very gentle with her all the time, but she can take it.
  • She's an excellent eater. I haven't found anything she doesn't like. She doesn't seem to mind a bit of spice either. She eats 3 meals a day, and relies on them for sustenance. No longer flexible with missing meals here and there. If she really likes something (like the enchilada casserole yesterday), she'll take a handful, pop it in her mouth, and say "mmm" while dancing and swaying back and forth.
  • Our danciest baby
  • Loving our little "baby's first words" board books. She'll sit and flip through the little one for a long time.
  • We haven't done much more with signing, but she definitely grasps more and all done.
  • We moved her out of the bucket seat and into the big Clek Foonf and she is much happier in the car. She can see out the window now. Her favourite car toys are just chew toys like her little Sophie and her banana tooth brush.
  • She still doesn't have any comfort items. I guess she's just comfortable enough on her own... She sucks her thumb to go to sleep, but only to go to sleep so far. Not for comfort elsewhere.
  • She's pretty brave with other people (at least when you compare her to Emilia at this age). She tolerates it mostly, but is pretty quick to smile once she's comfortable.
  • She started getting into our cupboards, so they are now child-proofed. Or... baby proofed. The big kids have figured out any child-proofing things we have. Now she just goes to the kid kitchen and empties the cupboards. Perfect!
  • Great at climbing up stairs. Not great at realizing you can't stop and turn around in the middle of them.
