Emilia - FIVE YEARS OLD!

My sweet girl is five! I'm so proud of the girl she's becoming and the independence and confidence she's developing.

Weight: 34 lbs
Height: 43 inches (80th percentile)
  • Wearing size 5 or 6 clothing. Size 11 shoes. For shorts she can wear a size 4 because she's very lean.
  • The big big news of this post is that Emilia no longer sucks her fingers! This was a constant habit (like constant). She was ready, and we used some no bite nail stuff and it took literally one application. Since she stopped withdrawing into her fingers, she has blossomed like crazy! She has so much to say, so much more personality, and is much more involved with the family goings on.
  • She has an artistic brain like her Dad. Things like randomly noticing reflections while we're out. She loves to make cards, do stamps, do crafts, etc. Especially making rainbows. She loves rainbows :)
  • We got her a children's digital camera for her birthday and she's been LOVING documenting everything around her.
  • Lion King is her most watched movie
  • She is probably the sweetest girl I've ever met 99% of the time. Always helping me out with Eva. Her and Dom play pretty well, but also very very differently so there's some tension there haha.
  • She gets an A+ for words of affirmation. She is just oozing encouraging and kinds words, words of love and acts of love/physical touch.
  • She is constantly making me cards that have hearts and rainbows and say "Emilia Mama" on them and she says I must keep them forever. I have rainbow and heart papers all over the house.
  • She writes her name in capital letters, and does her big L backwards, and colours in the top part of her A. The A colouring is a consistent thing no matter what she's writing. She just likes to be different :)
  • She rides her big pedal bike with no training wheels. She's very confident on it, often asking us to make little tracks or "jumps" for her to go over.
  • She wears a dress almost every single day. If it were up to her it would be all day every day.
  • She enjoys a clean room and will meticulously tidy it up when the mood strikes.
  • She's getting more confident with preschool drop off and is very ready for Kindergarten.
  • I said this last year too, but I stand by it. I think she will be into acting. She is always practicing her faces, and exercising her ability to act different moods. She has different voices and characters she seems to play too. She is excellent at memorizing words/music.
  • She has pretty good pitch with singing all of a sudden which is kind of exciting!
  • She colours beautifully, staying in the lines and focusing really well.
Emilia in a nutshell...
E: Mommy, who would I be in the Lion King?
Me: I don't know. What do you think? (fully expecting her to say Nala)
E: Hmm... I think... a bug. Because they don't have to battle.
