Easter & Birthday Weekend

Another wild weekend around here. Saturday was especially full, but again... All good things!

Friday evening Dave and I used a gift card from Greg & Liz Holmes for a date night. We had $150 to spend at Annora, a tiny restaurant in Langley that serves the most amazing food! It's sort of like West Coast fine dining. For appetizers we got the Beets & Goat Cheese Salad, and the Shortrib Pierogies. Ohhhh my word. Never had pierogies like that before. Literally plate-licking good!
For entrees I got the baked sablefish (was a special that day), and Dave got the duck breast which he'd heard reviews on online. I've never been a huge fan of duck, but if it was cooked like that I'd eat it every day. Amazing. For dessert Dave got the Cinnamon Bun Cheesecake and I got a Dark Chocolate something. Yum. We also got some good wine and Dave enjoyed some Glenfiddich as well!

First, a quick pic of Wren & Eva pushing Wren's stroller together <3

These pictures obviously don't do it even a little bit of justice

Long story short... go to Annora! You have to make reservations about a month in advance though. We actually made one, and then showed up on Friday and it turned out they hadn't written us down! I showed the emails and he managed to make a table up for us and assured us to take our time, and that this table was ours now. We weren't taking anyone's spot or anything. Oops!

Saturday was Eva's birthday! We didn't really have any birthday plans because we're having her family bday party next weekend, but for the big kids' sake I quickly put together a party breakfast and we had pancakes with whipped cream and wore party hats. I mean Eva has no idea what's going on, but Dom and Emilia were excited to celebrate with/for her!

After breakfast Opa & Oma came by with our joint birthday gift for Eva. A new kitchen! We gave our old one to Jesse and Kirsten and they're painting/fixing it up for Wren. The new IKEA one is quite a bit smaller and more modern looking, so it fits our space well. Also having a new toy in the house means the it occupies more of the kids' time :).

After that, Opa & Oma came to Dom's soccer with us. We've been very lucky so far with the weather, and it was starting to warm up and very sunny.

Back home for Eva's nap, and then straight out to Abbotsford for Kimber Easter Brunch! Of course we hardly saw Dom, Emilia and Rebecca as they were off playing the whole time. Eva did well considering there were quite a few unfamiliar faces. Stuck close by for the most part, but let me do my own thing too. She really loved playing in the grass and the play house. We got out of there later than I wanted so I was a bit nervous getting home for nap time. Turned out to be a non-issue as Eva AND Emilia (who hasn't napped in 6+ months) passed out hard on the way home. We drove around for an extra 20 minutes through that crazy snow/rain/wind storm. Whew!

We got home and squeezed in a power nap before making tortellini soup for dinner. Jesse and Kirsten came over for dinner, and then after bedtime they came back as did Scott & Ash. We played some horse races and Cards Against. Made for long, exhausting, but excellent day.

Sunday was Easter. We didn't get around to planning anything for the kids, but luckily some others gifted us Easter candies/baskets/toys. We took their easter eggs and some little toys from Greg & Liz and set up an Easter Egg Hunt during Eva's nap. The kids were thrilled. Phew!

Outside for some basketball and play time, and then got ready to go to Opa and Oma's for our Easter Dinner! It was a big deal that Dom got into playing basketball. He's been sort of against it since we got the hoop, but after he made a few baskets he felt more confident and got excited about it. Dave did too ;)

Emilia had been asking frequently for me to do her makeup. This seemed like a good opportunity. A little eye shadow and some lip gloss <3

Scott & Ash were at her parents' for the Yzerman Easter Dinner, but they popped by for a bit to hang out too. The rest of us had a lovely visit and meal in the chaos of 8 adults and 5 children at Mom & Dad's. We had ham, double-baked potatoes, veggies, and stoofpeertjes. Yuuuummmmy! After dinner we were entering witching hour as we got ready to go, and Opa pulled out the guitar. Eva showed off her dance moves and singing, and all the babies/kids were mesmerized. Can't wait for the cabin this summer with all these kids! We envision doing songs with Opa before bed, all in their jammies, and then putting them to bed and looking forward to our own evening of fire (maybe), drinks, snacks, and freedom! I think we all remember being on the other end of this. Doing songs and being put to bed while our parents obviously looked forward to their night of fun after that.

Missing Pheebs!

Whoa... Guitar!

YAY! Guitar!

Mesmerizing enough to keep a block on a 7 month old's head! Haha

This morning Dave is taking the day off of work, and Ashleigh & Phoebe came over for a play date!

First we unwrap a birthday gift from Uncle Adam and Aunty Aly for Eva!

Also, Jesse is redoing the flooring in our entry way for us! Can't wait to not have to look at that tile every time we come in or out! Eventually we'll replace the carpets too. And redo the upstairs bathroom floors... One thing at a time.

Goodbye ugly tile!
