Eva - 9 Months

Three quarters of a year down already! Most would describe Eva as a stoic, serious, chill baby. She is, in fact, bonkers and full of spunk. She is an observer when new people are around, but once she's comfortable she doesn't stop! She's been so fun to watch grow up and I'm so looking forward to watching her personality develop even more.

Weight: 21.5 lbs.(92nd percentile)
Height: 28.5 inches (85th percentile)

Notes:

  • Size 12 and 12-18 month clothing. Just finishing up some 3's and then into size 4 diapers
  • Communicating much more and in different ways now. She mimics the inflections in our voice as if she's asking questions or saying, "Hiii!"
  • She has two and a half teeth. The bottom two have been there a while, and one of her top teeth came through, but not one of the middle ones. The other not middle one is also almost through. Heading for hillbilly territory!
  • She's very mobile, crawling everywhere, climbing stairs, pulling herself up on everything, surfing furniture, etc.
  • She can clap
  • She can sign more and all done, but doesn't do it consistently. There are a few times she definitely did it to communicate her needs/wants though. She saw me open up a snack one time and sitting across the room signed "more" and came crawling over begging for some. Pretty clear!
  • She waves hi and bye. If we say, "Hii!!!" to her she'll just wave back at us
  • She loves to dance. She shakes/bounces her bum and shakes her head to dance
  • Claps toys together.
  • She's pretty good at independent play. Dom also was excellent at this age, but I think Emilia had Dom playing with her all the time so she didn't really get the chance to learn independent play. Eva gets more opportunity.
  • Her favorite toy right now is our little silicone muffin cups
  • I think she prefers to snack as opposed to filling her tummy. She goes through stints of drinking bits of her bottle at a time, and doesn't often eat lots at breakfast/lunch, but then begs for food if she sees me eating. We'll have to get that sorted as I don't have time to make and supervise any more meals!
  • She is up to 3 meals of solids per day. Still doing baby led weaning and I basically just throw food on her tray, which sometimes includes the kids' leftovers haha.
  • Clicks her tongue at us
  • Learning new sounds and now goes: Ga, Ba, Da, Ma, Fffff
  • She loves animals and squeals with excitement whenever she sees Sherlock or another dog
  • We've caught her sitting up or standing a few times in her crib, but every time she just gets back down and lays down to go to sleep.
  • She doesn't have any comfort items yet, so I'm trying to get her attached to a little blanket or something.
  • She had her first hysterical giggle fit this month and every day I think about it and it makes me smile
  • She doesn't love the car. If Dom is there to entertain her she tolerates it. Otherwise it is likely she'll fuss or cry for much of the drive.
  • I got my first postpartum period
  • Such a happy baby and lovely addition to our family!
