Thankful Thursday - 272

Today is a good day to focus on the positive. I've been completely wiped lately. Preschool started this week and I was super excited! I accomplished more in the two hours I had at home on Tuesday than I had in one day in a long time. Now today all three children are sick... No preschool. However, it does mean that there have been audiobooks and a movie on all morning so far. Shouldn't really complain about that. I've gotten some work and two blogs done already, and plan to workout during their naps/quiet time.

1. My Happy Place. Last Sunday Dave and I dropped ALL THREE kids off at Mom & Dad's for a few hours and went to do some newborn photos for Jeff & Marta & Owen. First time we've been out together during the day with just the two of us since Eva was born. Felt so good to get out! Also I really loved the quality Owen time. I didn't have to share him with anyone, and was thanked for snuggling him until he was fast asleep. Any. Time. Seriously! I love the newborn stage now apparently! He is just the sweetest!

One teaser photo Dave sent. I can't wait to see all these pictures!

Eva getting some bonding time with Opa

2. First day of preschool! Dom & Emilia started preschool at their new campus this week. New teachers, new friends... They were pretty nervous and drop off didn't go very well, but as I figured, they calmed down and warmed up quickly once I was out of there. Now of course they're sick and couldn't go to their second day which really sucks. I am clinging to their days at preschool for my mental health! That is my only "break" during the week right now. Other than that it's my few hours at work... Hopefully next week they can go both days and get settled into the new routine!

Dom did not want to change out of his jammies for the photo. We finally decided it wasn't worth the fight. This is a testament to Dom as a 4 year old.

And a testament to the sweetness of this little lady <3

"Dom was hurting my neck!" Yes... I see that. Tight squeeze there Dom!

3. Movie night. We had Jesse & Kirsten over for dinner the other night and then after they put Wren down, they came back over and watched Jungle Cruise with us in the theatre. Their monitor reached all the way to our garage, so we just had it plugged in there and the door open! Excited is an understatement for how Dave was feeling about sharing his theatre with others haha. It's been a while. Especially since it's too hot to watch movies down there in the summer. It was the perfect soup & movie day on Tuesday.

Getting close to bedtime haha. Playing is hard work!

4. Catching up with friends. We hadn't seen Michael & Matt since COVID started, so we had them and their little boy over for dinner last weekend. The kids all played, and N LOVED Dom's trucks. I forgot what it was like having a toddler in the house. Everything is so exciting, "WOWWWWW!!!!!" Super adorable. They put him down for bed upstairs, and then we hung out catching up, snacking, and drinking late into the evening.

The kids volun-told Matt to read them many books

Grown up snacks!

5. Doting big siblings. Dom is Eva's little caretaker. I can trust him to hold her and keep her safe on the couch, or to keep an eye on her as she plays on the floor. He loves to snuggle her and play with her and make her feel happy. Emilia is getting there too, but she prefers to play that game with her teddies and dolls. Works for me!

So it's been established that we pretty much live in jammies around here.

No wonder they all got a cold on the same day. These three are inseparable!

Ugh. She's the sweetest!

6. Europe journal. We went to Europe in 2014 for a 3 week trip. We found all the pictures from our trip recently, and I just tracked down my journal yesterday finally. We read through a lot of it together last night. I'm SO glad I wrote these things down! Such amazing memories we had completely forgotten about! I am hoping to put the pictures and some journal excerpts into a few blog posts since this was pre-blog days. It'll take time, but some day! It's my "when I have time" project.

Mapped out each stop on our trip. This journal contains a schedule, pamphlets, postcards, receipts, ticket stubs, and many other little flat souvenirs from the trip!

7. Twinsies. Eva is starting to resemble me as a baby! Dom looks like Jeff, Emilia looks like Dave, and now maybe I have one that looks like me! If she had brown eyes it would be an even closer resemblance I think.

Do you see it? Or no?

8. Almost done Barre Blend! I am on my last two days of my 8 week Barre Blend program through Beach Body. Maybe if I get brave I'll post my progress shots when I'm done, but I'm so ridiculously proud of myself! After this is over, I plan to do yoga for a while and then maybe do the program again. It's 30-45 minutes per day, 5 times per week, so it's a pretty significant commitment. The kids usually play in my bed and I do it while Eva has her first nap of the day most of the time. Not totally ideal, but I'm a routine and structure person, so having this routine works well for me.
