Eva - 5 Months

Eva is ringing in her 5 month date with her first cold. She's just stuffed up, sneezing, and doing some coughing. Nothing crazy so far. Poor girl! She's (so far) still sleeping well thank goodness, but definitely fussier when awake.

Her first time wearing jeans <3

Eva 0-5 Months. She sure has changed a lot in the last month!

Weight: 15.6 lb (60th percentile) - she packed on over 2 lb in the last month!
Height: 25.5 inches (65th percentile) - this is exactly the same height as Emilia was at 5 months

Likes:
  • The jolly jumper. She freaking loves that thing. She goes nuts!
  • Dom. Especially Dom while she's in the jolly jumper!
  • Bath time. Not much has changed regarding her likes the last couple weeks!

Notes:
  • Size 6 month clothing. Size 2 diapers.
  • Leap 4 was rough, as it led into the 4 month sleep regression. It was a couple weeks of early wake ups, randomly waking at night (though I shouldn't complain about her one wake up...), and 30 minute naps. It's the naps that get me really! We're finally getting back into a naptime groove, but that was a rough few weeks there.
  • She is eating oatmeal now a few times a week. Mostly when I remember. I'm sure this has helped with her weight gain. She's just starting to get over the tongue thrust reflex, and now uses sucking her thumb to help her swallow the oatmeal. I remember Dom doing this too!
  • She has no preference over bottle or boob. As long as she's getting food, she's happy.
  • My milk supply is so low. I can get a solid feed into her first thing in the morning, after going a full night without nursing. Other than that, I nurse her 2 other times during the day. Once after her first or second nap, followed by a bottle to top up. And then once after her 3rd nap, followed by solids and then a bedtime bottle. It's still frustrating for me, but at least it gives me the freedom to leave the house sometimes and not have to worry about engorgement or anything.
  • Grabs her feet when she's laying on the floor.
  • She has some serious stranger danger, though it's improved a bit since Leap 4 has ended.
  • The other day I was driving to pick the kids up from preschool, and I glanced back and saw Eva in the mirror in her car seat. The way she was sitting/playing with her toy, I had a flashback to Dom. I couldn't get it out of my head that it was Dom back there! Her cheeks, the way she moved her mouth, the way she was playing... I don't know, but it was weird!
  • She's very screechy. I think she's learned it from Dom. He likes to go into her face and squeak and squeal because he's "speaking her language".
  • She rolls both ways, but most often from back to front when outside the crib. For some reason she hasn't translated going front to back outside the bed. It'll come!
  • She very rarely cries during naps/bedtime anymore. Whew!
  • She does nights and 2 naps in her crib, and one nap in the bassinet while Emilia is in quiet time. She's getting too big for the bassinet though, so may have to reevaluate what to do with Emilia during that time... Maybe put her in our bed, and Eva in the crib. We'll see!
  • She is a giggler, but 90% of the time it's for Dom.
  • Her smiles make people feel so special since she's so reserved with them haha
  • She sleeps through the night reliably now. Whew! Took longer than with Emilia, but she's still been an easy sleeper. Never really had to night train.
  • My anxiety has been high this week, but overall it's been a bit better. I'm still being followed by a Psychiatrist and Counsellor from Reproductive Mental Health, and I'm a part of a postpartum support group over Zoom every Monday evening. That one is with the Pacific Post Partum Support Society. It's amazing what free resources there are if you just ask!
Not much of a "typical" day yet, but here's our goal day, that we've actually accomplished a few times!

Wake times: 1 hr 40 min/1 hr 45 min/1 hr 45 min/2 hr
700: Wake up & feed
840-1030: Nap 1
1030: Wake up & feed & 4oz bottle
1215-215: Nap 2
215: Wake & 6oz bottle
400-500: Nap 3
500: Nurse
600: Oatmeal
700: Bed

All 3 kids at 5 months. She's sort of a mix of the two of them. She's more petite like Emilia, but her features are more like Dom I find.

Not to be left out of course...

What do you think... do we look alike?

I guess we now know where she got her sticky-outie ears and almond shaped eyes :)
