Emilia - 3.5 Years

My big girl is 3.5 today. Yesterday I told her she would be 3 and a half tomorrow and she was very snippy saying, "I already am that big." Okay... she's 3 and a half going on 13 for sure.

Weight: 29.8 lb (27th percentile)
Height: 39.5 inches (80th percentile)

Notes:
  • Wearing size 4T clothing for the most part and 8C shoes. We can only buy pants at Carters though, because any other brand seems to slip right off her and/or are too short. The Carters brand seem to be a bit longer and tighter in the waist which works well for her. Sorry girl... you came by that struggle honestly!
  • She is in preschool 2 days/week with Dom. They play SO well together, but we've heard Dom can be a bit bossy at preschool, so I'm looking forward to the days when they can have a bit more separation and she can become independent from him.
  • Eva is growing on her. At the very beginning she seemed fond, but in the middle I think Emilia felt a bit pushed aside. We'd praise Dom for his help and his kindness with Eva, and praise Eva for doing nothing because she's a baby. Emilia is starting to come into her own and I catch her holding Eva's hands and singing to her or telling her everything she knows about Frozen.
  • If she catches you watching her when she's in the zone singing or playing, she'll stop and shyly give a half smile, clearly feeling self-conscious about people watching her.
  • She's very girly, and is still especially into Frozen. When she looks through a toy catalogue, anything pink and sparkly she "wants". She'll point to something about Spiderman and say, "I don't like that. I think Dom wants that."
  • She is braver than me in some ways. If there is a spider or a bee in the house, she rolls up her sleeves, grabs a book (for swatting), and marches over to say, "I am brave of this bee."
  • She and Dom are both loving Thomas the Tank Engine right now. She loves to sing songs about them, and goes along with Dom's playing. I am curious how much she'd play cars and trains if it were actually entirely up to her. She doesn't get a lot of time (if any) without Dom.
  • She's pretty much stopped napping. For a while there she would nap in our bed during "quiet time", but then a few times her and Dom did quiet time together in their room and just played nicely for an hour and a half. Every so often (usually after preschool) she'll crash in our bed, but other times I leave her and come back at 230 and she's just been playing or reading the whole time. I am SO thankful for quiet time though. So. Thankful.
  • We are working on feeling okay showing her emotions and using words to describe them. Dom is really good at this (kind of freakishly good for a 4 year old. Old soul, that boy), so I think she models after him sometimes. If she's angry, she'll let us know with words more often than hitting lately (though the hitting definitely still happens!)
  • She loves her Mommy, and needs more quality time than I've been able to give her lately.
  • She's not a SUPER picky eater, but feeds off of Dom's pickiness/sensitivity and will eat a couple bites, and then decide she doesn't like it or doesn't want to eat it.
  • She was Queen Elsa for Halloween and was a trooper with trick or treating.
  • I love the way she talks. She says complex sentences, but doesn't get them quite right. Same with song lyrics.
"Bla bla black sheep hammyammywoo. Yes sir yes sir 3 bags full. One for the master, one for the day, one for the little girl who lived down the lane. Bla bla black sheep hammyammywoo. Yes sir yes sir 3 bags full."
    OR
"The bitchy bitchy spider went up the water spout..."canva
  • She loves to ride the strider now and is getting pretty quick on it.
  • She has a fear of being left behind, and gets very upset if we're out walking or something and she starts falling behind even just a little bit. "Don't leave me behiiiiind!"
  • She has her mommy's (lack of) coordination.
