Emilia - 17 Months

Miss Emilia. Our little spitfire. She is growing up so fast; she's not a baby anymore! She is mostly easy-going, adventurous, tough, and increasingly affectionate.

My beautiful little stinker <3

All bald 32 lb of him

Weight: 23.8lb (70th percentile)
Height: 32 inches (45-50th percentile)

Likes:
  • Brushing her teeth. She is oddly obsessed with brushing her teeth and will often throughout the day ask for her toothbrush. Her way of asking is to stick her tongue out and wag it around... I guess she likes the part where we brush her tongue best. This is especially notable as brushing her teeth made the short-list of dislikes last month.
  • Reading books. Lord help you if you just want to sit down for a minute to have a break. As soon as you even think about sitting on the couch she runs over to the shelf, "Bvooo!" and you're stuck reading books for the next 25 minutes.

Dislikes:
  • Getting help when she doesn't want it. She must be my daughter haha!

Notes:
  • 18 Month clothing, size 4 diapers, size 4 shoes,
  • She has 11 teeth. Missing her bottom left molar. I think canines will come soon.
  • Words: snack (na while pointing to cupboard), toes (tooooooooe), nose (no), all done (ah wo with sign), goodnight (niiiiigh!), bye (daii), bellybutton (na naaa), daddy, puppy (duppy), shoe (doo), book (bvoo), baby, stinky, ham (growly HHHHHHAAAAM), yummy (nummy nummy), Oma/Gramma (Mmmmma), no, no thank you (no ta tu), please (deees with sign), ball, bless you (ah tu), thank you (tae tu), up (puh), cheese, pee-u (plugging nose), Daddy, Dom (Dah), milk/water (wah wah wah), Hiiiii,  hello (allo), ya, poop (boop), and the new one that just happened today finally.... MOMMY!
  • She has suddenly started speaking jibberish. She's always been a pretty quiet kid communication-wise, but this last week or two she is blabbing on non-stop. I remember Dom using lots of hard consonants at this point; she is more soft sounds and la la las. Loving this age though.
  • She follows Dom around and copies everything he does.
  • She's starting to string two words together, "Hi Mommy", "Bye Puppy!"
  • She tries really hard to repeat the things we ask her to say. The other day she threw a car at Dom, so I brought her over and asked her to say, "Sorry Dom." She came up with "wowwy Da." I was impressed!
  • If she doesn't know how to say something in words, she's much better at using sign language to communicate on her own now. She tries new things to get us to figure out what she wants.
  • She still loves going to bed. When we start winding down at night she'll start walking around saying, "Nigh Nigh!!" and grabbing her blanket, asking for her bottle and going to the gate. I think maybe she just wants to brush her teeth.
  • She figured out how to ride Dom's firetruck toy and can actually push herself along now
  • She learned to do zippers and buckles, and loves playing with the buckles on her high chair.
  • She walks around on her tiptoes all the time.
  • She seems to be adjusting pretty well to me going back to work. Dom is acting out more than her.
  • She's forming bonds and relationships with more and more people!
  • SHE STAYED IN THE NURSERY TWO WEEKS IN A ROW! If David drops the kids off they are now able to stay; at least the last two weeks... the whole time. With no crying!
  • She still loves her blanket, but sometimes when we go in the car I ask her if she wants it and she pointedly says, "no tae tu." Alrighty then...
A Typical Day:

0700: Wake up
0730: Oatmeal with honey and cinnamon, banana and milk

1100: Lunch
1200: Nap
230/300: Wake up

Clearly super stoked to have a book

Her face when she says book (bvoo). Wait, Mom! Don't take my book!

This is her puppy-dog eyes, how she manipulates people. She doesn't cry when she wants something, she just gives this look and gets all coy and wiggles her toe/leg. Here she is wanting the book I took from her haha

Next step after not getting what she wants. See her adorable ponytail?!

Thanks for giving me the book back!
